If you’re a member of a team visiting the Cleveland Indians then, first off, I’m so sorry and you’ll be out of Cleveland soon. Second off, what are you doing reading this blog? Don’t you have eight or nine runs to go ring up on that awful club? And thirdly, you probably noticed some sweet Lego portraits lining the walls along Progressive Field’s visitor’s clubhouse.
One of the Tribe’s assistant clubhouse managers, Wayne Peltz, has found his niche creating accurate-ish Lego portraits of both past and present ballplayers (plus Michael Jackson).
Each portrait takes about 2,500 Legos and more than 20 hours to create. To get the likeness, he starts off drawing basic shapes and shades, then uses a computer to finish off the design.
It’s a sad state of affairs that the most exciting hobby in Peltz’s life is not overseeing another few ‘O’s being sewn onto Sin Soo Choo’s jersey, but being commissioned to do portrait’s of frumpy-looking dogs.
