Tip-In Points: Give Your Lineup A Collison Injection

Anyone can suggest adds and drops for the NBA fantasy fans out there, but few make those suggestions from the gut.  We’ve also sprinkled in tons of helpful stats for all fantasy formats too. Because that’s the kind of fantasy help you deserve.

Darren Collison, NO This is the face of a rookie who just found out a) he’s replacing the best point guard in the NBA and b) opportunities don’t come along like this everyday. That look? It’s giddiness powdered over fear. Collison has averaged 33 minutes in nine games as a starter and just 13 in 32 games as a reserve. He averaged 15 and 8 as the starter and 4 and 2 as the reserve. Collison has more minutes under his belt now and there’s (perceptively) more on the line as the Hornets are very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. Oh, and N’Awlins shipped out two guards since Collison last started. Put simply: Collison’s the only one who can play Paul’s minutes. Pick him off the waiver, he’ll produce.

Go Saints!

Here’s what else went down on God’s day.

Kenyon Martin, DEN Scored 27 again with Carmelo out. That’s twice this month K-Mart’s topped 25 points since his homey’s been out. He’s only scored 25+ two other times all year.

Arron Afflalo, DEN 6-for-6 including two treys.  Afflalo is like the Wolfmother of the NBA. They just don’t have the stuff to be the center of anyone’s attention. But when looking at the big picture, they’re about as solid of a fourth or fifth option as you can realistically hope to have.

Andrew Bynum, LAL Nineteen points and 11 rebounds. Bynum’s shot at least 54 percent or better in nine of his last 10 games.

Rajon Rondo, BOS Double-double numero 20 (21 pts/ 12 ast / 2 stl). Just let me know when you’re all ready to call Rondo the best Celtic on the team. C’mon. You know you want to.

LeBron James, CLE The King shot 5-of-6 from the arc. 23 points in the first quarter. Nine in the rest of the game. He outscored the entire Los angeles Clippers roster in the first quarter (23-20), making him the 1,855,990 player to do that against the Clippers.

Jameer Nelson, ORL Played 10 minutes. The rest was spent nursing his broke-ass knee. He’ll be out at least a few games.

Vince Carter, ORL Half Man-Half AMassacre had six points on 13 percent from the field. He’s accumulated 14 total points in his last three on 5-for-28 (18 percent) shooting.

Dwight Howard, ORL Forty-four percent. That’s what Howard shot from the charity stripe last night (8-for-18). That’s not quite Rick Derringer ugly. But it’s close.

Ben Gordon, DET Is still playing limited minutes since returning from an eight-game furlough on Friday. Those limited minutes equated to limited stats … and also because Gordon has showed limited skill since arriving in Detroit.

Charlie Villanueva, DET DNP. Back spasms. Should return Tuesday (if his back quits actin’ like such a spaz).

Channing Frye, PHO Ineffective. Is this a pattern with Robin Lopez starting?

Amar’e Stoudamire, PHO A season-high 36 points to go along with 11 rebounds, 2 blks and 12-for-12 from the line.  His game was like like looking into the eyes of Jesus.  Jesus – in this instance – being Jesus Prairie, the owner of Architectural Solutions as seen in the ITT Technical institute commercials that play in every other commercial on NBAtv. To be fair, watching anyone on NBAtv makes me think of Jesus (Prairie).

Nate Robinson, NY 1-for-10 in 25 minutes. It’s time I said what everyone else is thinking: Your looks are becoming a problem!

Kevin Love,  MIN Career-high 25 points, which apparently is still not good enough to warrant a spot in the starting lineup of the 11-38 Timberwolves. Makes total sense.

Jrue Holiday, PHI Played only nine minutes on Sunday? He wasn’t hurt, wasn’t off or in foul trouble. He was Eddie Jordan-ed.

Danny Granger, IND STOP SHOOTING THREES! He’s attempted at least four threes in all but three games this season. He’s eighth in the league in three-point attempts despite only having played in 65 percent of Indianapolis’ games.

L I N E   O F   T H E   N I G H T

40 min. / 76% FG / 100% FT / 2 3ptm / 43 pts / 11 rbds / 2 ast / 2 stl / 4 tos

Kevin Durant, OKC He was playing the Warriors? The hell you say.
