Tip-In Points: Graceful Like A Gasol

TIP - Graceful Gasol

Anyone can suggest adds and drops for the NBA fantasy fans out there, but few make those suggestions from the gut. Don’t know what fantasy advice from the gut is like? Keep reading. Don’t want to know what it’s like? Well then nevermind the gut thing … I was just saying that to get you to like me. We’ve sprinkled in tons of helpful stats for all fantasy formats too. Because that’s the kind of fantasy help you deserve.

Unless you deserve help from the gut. Then there’s that too.

Pau Gasol is back in the Lakers lineup and should be back in your lineup too. He should have been in all lineups last night, but I can’t eat anyone’s lunch for keeping him out one game just to make sure he doesn’t snap in two or something. He led all scorers in his return against the Bulls with an efficient (9-of-15) 25 points and grabbed 13 boards. Two turnovers. Meh. You’ll live with it. This news is great for Gasol owners and bad for pretty much everyone else. Everyone’s healthy. So it’s time to see how Phil Jackson works the rotations, the offensive touches. Look for Ron Artest’s, Lamar Odom’s and Andrew Bynum’s production to go down. Not lots. Littles.

More down below.

Derrick Rose, CHI – Pooh vowed not to cut his hair until he starts playing better … Is 20 points and six assists on 9-for-20 shooting “good?” How do I know that what appears blue to me appears blue to you?

John Salmons, CHI – 18 points / 3 threes / 7-for-13 from the floor/ foul trouble in the second half. He’s not where you hoped he’d be, but he’s not where he was two weeks ago.

Paul Millsap, UTA – Mehmet Okur’s absence helped make Thursday one of Millsap’s most Millsap-y games of the season so far. 20 /7 and a block.

Ronnie Brewer, UTA – I really want Ronnie and Corey Brewer to get traded to the Bucks so I can refer to them as the Milwaukee Brewers. It won’t happen, Ronnie likes Mormon chicks too much. Anyhoodle … he played almost 42 minutes, scored 13 points and let everyone else on the team build their counting stats.

Amar’e Stoudemire, PHOWhen you swoon and not try / As the ball hits the sky / THAT’S Amar’e! … I’d continue with the Dean Martin riff, but I can’t think of anything that sounds like “pasta fazool.” The point is that Stoudemire just doesn’t rebound anymore. Blame his eyes. Blame his knees. Blame his patchy beard. He played almost 43 minutes and grabbed five boards. Channing Frye played 15 fewer minutes and grabbed five more. Stoudemire has grabbed 10+ boards in 3 of 13 games (23 percent) this season. Last year he did it in 16 of 53 games (30 percent).

Jared Dudley, PHO – Solid play from the guy who’s averaging 22.7 minutes per game. 5-for-7 shooting (5-for-6 from behind the arc). A good source for a little bit of everything in deeper leagues. He does it all. Except dishes. He won’t do dishes.

Devin Brown, NO – Why do I want to call this guy Tevin? Was there a guy on Jodeci named Tevin Brown? That must be it.  Anyway, Tevin tied for the second-most points on the Hornets with 19.

David West, NO – “With Chris Paul out, this will be the time for David West to take control of the Hornets” – General concensus among sportsy types. West’s answer on Thursday? 6 pts / 4 rbd / 5 ast and some solid defense that means little in fantasy sports. Boo, sir.

Darren Collison, NO – Week 1: averaged 2:30 minutes per game/ 1.5 points. Week 2: 13 minutes, 6 points/ 1.6 rbd / 2.3 ast. Since November 13: 27 minutes /13.8 pts/ 3 rbd / 4 ast. Next week: the world.

LINE OF THE NIGHT: Peja Stojakovic, NO – 25 pts / 13 rbd / 1 ast / .474 fg% / 7 3ptm. Predrag sprinkled seven threes over four quarters and somehow managed to grab 13 rebounds in the process. He led both teams in boards! Is that the vapors? Dude, gave me the vapors. Five of his rebounds were offensive rebounds? How does that happen when he’s hanging out on the perimeter? If that’s not a miracle than surely nothing is.
