The Associated Press, one of the most well- respected international news gathering organizations in the news-gatherin’ business gained such a reputation by guiding society with a considered, thorough uncovering of the world around us.
Whereas most all other (read: lesser) organizations thought to file Charlie Manual’s decision to start pitcher Joe Blanton in the all-important Game 4 under the “sports” or “baseball” heading, the AP put under “science” where it belongs.
The AP knew that the Philly manager’s decision to play a man named Blanton instead of pitting his former Cy Young winner against New York’s former Cy Young winner was a decision that similar to nuclear ships fluttering to Mars or methane mysteries was something that regular folks just find inexplicable.
Quite literally, I am as confused as to why Blanton started Game 4 as I am about flying nuclear ships to the red planet.
And see? The AP knew that about me. About all of us.
